Volandis has the ISO 27001 certificate since 2019. This certificate is the international standard for information security and sets high requirements for the continuity of ICT systems. “The need to opt for an escrow solution arose from the requirements of the ISO 27001 certification,” says Anco. “In the development of ICT systems, we mainly have a management role. The actual development and hosting are the responsibility of various ICT suppliers. If the continuity of such a supplier is at risk, you want to have something arranged.”

An important application for which continuity must also be properly guaranteed is the Volandis prevention care portal. This portal supports the PAGO-DIA process (Periodic Occupational Health Examination – Sustainable Employability Analysis). This contains sensitive information such as medical data. “This simply cannot fail,” explains Anco. “If a supplier goes bankrupt, we must still be able to continue our operations. That is why we need an escrow agreement.”

Volandis came into contact with Escrow4All trough their ICT supplier. “Our supplier was already familiar with Escrow4All, which is why we started to talk with them,” says Anco. An escrow agreement means that the source code, data and hosting of a system are periodically secured, so Volandis always has access to a working environment in the event of an emergency. “Within an escrow agreement, clear agreements are made how to act if continuity is jeopardized,” says Anco. This provides the certainty that, even in the event of a serious problem with a supplier, the service provision will not come to a hold.

What stands out for Volandis in particular about the collaboration with Escrow4All is the professionalism and reliability. “The collaboration is going very well,” says Anco. “We have a fixed contact person and that is very useful. They know exactly what is going on everytime we have contact. That makes it personal and efficient.”

In addition, Volandis has now gained experience with the so-called Veriftwo process. This tests whether the the Escrow agreement also leads to continuity in practice. “Escrow4All built a new environment from the deposited material, and it worked,” says Anco. This confirms to Volandis that their systems are in safe hands.
