“Proactive Customer Support is Key in Our Work” – Bram van den Berg, Escrow4All
“I’ve held the usual student jobs so far, from working in hospitality and giving tours in Amsterdam to tutoring primary school students. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Strategy and Organisation at VU University Amsterdam,” says Bram van den Berg, a recent addition to the Escrow4All team. “I was looking for a job that aligned better with my studies and offered a more professional atmosphere and office environment. When I came across this job opening, I applied immediately. The process moved quickly, and during the first interview, it was clear there was a good connection. Within two weeks, our collaboration was finalized.”
Proactive Support
“I assist with customer support, not so much from a technical perspective like my colleagues on the helpdesk, but more proactively. I primarily contact customers to ensure all their information is up-to-date,” Bram explains. “I review contact details, and if there are discrepancies between our CRM portal and ERP system, I make sure they’re resolved correctly. In short, I clean up the customer database to ensure everything is accurately recorded. Additionally, I translate Dutch-written blogs our company shares with clients and partners into English.”
“On Wednesdays, I work the entire day from Escrow4All’s office, and on Tuesday mornings, I work from home. I work 12 hours a week for the company, which fits perfectly with my studies. Being in the office on Wednesdays is not only productive because I get to see how the company operates from the inside, but it’s also enjoyable. We always have lunch together, and that often leads to great conversations,” Bram adds.
Meaningful Work
The work I do is important because the concept of an escrow arrangement is to enable quick action if something happens to the involved company. However, this requires accurate data, starting with the correct contact person,” says Bram. “What I enjoy most about my work is helping people from A to Z, going over everything to ensure it’s correct, and explaining how things work in a way that gets people excited. That energy from others energizes me as well, and it makes my workday successful.”
Bram’s Free Time: Running and Traveling
“In my free time, I enjoy running. Recently, I completed the Barcelona Marathon. Herman Kui, the Managing Director of Escrow4All, is also a runner, which creates a connection,” Bram says with a smile. “I used to row a lot, but with my studies and job, it takes up too much time now. Running is much quicker.”
“What I love about sports is that it requires routine and the discipline to follow a schedule. In my experience, exercising always makes you happy in the end. If this article is published as planned, I’ll have already completed the Leiden Half Marathon with a few friends.”
“In just over two months, I need to submit my thesis and finish my studies. After that, the plan is to travel for a year with my girlfriend. We intend to start in Turkey and then gradually move eastward to Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Lombok, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. But first, I’ll need to work hard and put in plenty of hours to make this amazing trip a reality,” Bram concludes.
